Advanced Placement (AP)

Part 1: Course Expectations & Student Commitment

By enrolling in an AP course, students and families acknowledge:

●      College-Level Demands: AP courses move at an accelerated pace to cover college-level material by May. This requires advanced analytical and abstract thinking, as well as strong writing skills.

●      Proactive Ownership: Students must take charge of their learning. This means actively utilizing teacher resources, attending office hours, and asking questions when concepts get challenging.

●      Dropping a Class: If you choose to drop an AP course, you must notify Ms. Wilson immediately. If you have already registered for the exam and it has been added by the Bookstore, you will still be responsible for any applicable fees. 

Part 2: Registration, Fees, & Payment Process

AP exams are optional but strongly encouraged and will be administered from May 3–14, 2027.

💰Standard Exam Cost: $110 per exam
$53 for reduced-fee eligible students (please notify Ms. Wilson directly).

August 4-September 4, 2026	Students enroll in AP Classroom using Join Codes provided by teachers. Decision Deadline  for Fall and Full Year Course Student Registration: September 4, 2026, 3:00pm.
September 7-September 17, 2026	Ms. Wilson visits AP Classrooms to confirm student participation for their AP exams.
Fall Break	ACPHS Bookstore adds fees to student accounts over Fall Break. Parents will receive a notification when fees are posted. Parents WILL NOT be able to add AP exam fees on their own this year.
October 30, 2026	Deadline to pay the exam fee.
November 12, 2026	All AP exam orders will be finalized and submitted to College Board. Requests for exam cancellations received by 3:00pm today remain eligible for a 100% full refund.
November 13, 2026-February 26, 2027	Partial Refund and Fee Adjustment Period: Final orders have been submitted to College Board. Any late additions or changes will now incur a $40 fee per exam.
February 26, 2027	Absolute last day to order an exam (will include a $40 late fee) or request a partial refund/fee adjustment. No changes, orders, or refunds are allowed after this date.

Note: Spring-only Government and Economics classes will go through a similar registration and payment process starting in January 2027. (Decision Deadline for Spring courses: February 5, 2027, 3:00pm.)

Important Policy on Outstanding Balances: Exam fees will remain on a student's account until paid. Students with unpaid AP fees will be ineligible to take future AP exams or participate in graduation ceremonies until balances are cleared.

Refund Policy

If you need to change your exam status or cancel an AP exam, you must see Ms. Wilson in Room B102. All changes must be made by 3:00 pm on the deadline date.

●      100% Refund: Cancel on or before November 12, 2026.

●      50% Refund: Cancel between November 13, 2026, and February 26, 2027.

●      No Refund: Any cancellations on or after February 27, 2027. 

Step-by-Step Online Payment Instructions:

1. Log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
2. Click More on the bottom left-hand side of the screen.
3. Click the InTouch Fee Payments link.
4. Select the student you are paying for.
5. Click the red View button in the notification window to display unpaid fines/fees to process your payment.

Part 3: Additional Registration Notes

●      AP Exam Schedule Notice: College Board establishes the fixed, nationwide AP exam schedule, which schools cannot alter; teachers will distribute these dates upon release, and they will also be accessible directly via the College Board website.

●      ACPHS Students Only: ACPHS only administers exams to currently enrolled, full-time ACPHS students.

●      Self-Study AP "Exam Only" Testing: Must be approved and coordinated with the AP Coordinator before the November 12, 2026, deadline. Availability is not guaranteed and is subject to the AP Coordinator's administrative approval on a case-by-case basis. Stop by B102 to pick-up a request form.

●      Chandler Online Academy (COA): ACPHS will not administer AP exams for courses taken through COA. If you are taking an AP course through COA, you must test at COA.

Part 4: Attendance, Absences, & Late Testing

College Board strictly regulates late testing. Missing an exam requires formal documentation submitted to Ms. Wilson within 24 hours of the missed exam.

Does NOT Qualify for Late Testing (this list is not exhaustive):

 

●       Vacations, travel, or family events

●       Work schedules

●       Athletic practices or non-postseason competitions

●       Non-ACPHS sports or activities

●       College visits or exams

●       Tardiness to the exam

●       Car trouble, traffic, or road conditions

●       Stress or minor illness without a doctor’s note

●       Non-emergency appointment

 
Qualifies for Late Testing (with documentation):

 ●       Verified illness with a doctor’s note stating the student could not attend school

●       Emergencies (such as severe illness, family tragedy, or conflicting medical issues)

●       Same-day ACPHS varsity/postseason athletic or academic event conflict coordinated with school staff

●       Two AP exams scheduled at the same time

Part 5: Digital Exams, Accommodations, & Logistics

●      Adherence to all school and College Board guidelines is required for students, which includes routine review of communications via email and ParentSquare/StudentSquare, as well as meeting all deadlines set by teachers.

●      Readiness for Digital Exams: Testing in Bluebook is required for both digital and hybrid exams. Students who fail to download the Bluebook application or provide valid login credentials will be dismissed from testing, without any opportunity for a refund or a retake.

●      Disability Accommodations (SSD):

○      Requests must be submitted to Ms. Wilson (who submits to College Board) by January 2027.

○      To waive approved accommodations, you must notify the AP Coordinator in writing by March 31.

●      Logistics & Transportation: Some exams extend beyond the school day; transportation is the responsibility of the student and family.
